Keyler Matthew’s newest single ‘Island Time’ is a song that captures the meaning of slow-paced time. From the title I felt this has to do with the literal meaning of living in an island where there’s no rush or hurry.

Here in the Philippines we have a lot of provinces and I personally experience being in “island time” a lot so I thought it was very relatable for me. Listening to this song will make you feel like you’re on vacation and lost in the beat of the music.

The lyrics of the song are smooth and capture every line with its fluidity. The first verse starts off with the lines, “I’m running late, I’m running early running right on time.” which hints the theme throughout. Just hearing those, I know it will become one of my favorite songs. The songwriter has a way with words, and it’s clear that a lot of thought and emotion went into crafting the lyrics of this song. I can’t wait to hear more from this artist in the future.

Alongside its low tempo beat, there are some really well-done lead parts throughout the song that give it even more depth. I can’t help but notice the song’s buildup and the note change at the short bridge that make this perfect arrangement.

I love how relaxed Keyler’s voice was throughout as if he’s speaking personally about life has been like for him. The vocals are smooth and soulful, perfectly complementing the instrumentals and bringing the message of the song to the forefront. All in all, it’s a beautifully crafted song that I can’t get enough of.
