Abby Holliday’s ‘Dreams’ is a song that will tug at your heartstrings

The first time I heard Abby Holliday’s ‘Dreams’ I was immediately hooked. I honestly noticed the sound is reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers but in an entirely new and different light.

The song takes on a melancholic sound combining the acoustic guitar with synth build ups and Abby’s beautiful hushed voice. It is an honest emotional tune that feels sentimental, heartfelt, and melancholic.

Her lyrics are playful – the title is both ambitious in its meaning and an experience of dreaming while asleep.

With the chorus ‘distract me, so I don’t notice my teeth are falling out’ made me think of its dream interpretation associated with loss and important life changes. The song ended on a strong note with ‘bravery isn’t reserved for dreams’ which makes it poetic and holistic in nature.

I discovered the song through Fresh Finds Spotify playlist and noticed that the song is part of an album called ‘WHEN WE’RE FAR APART I FALL APART’. Check it out here.
